What do the letters and symbols to the left of my course names mean (e.g., M, E, or *)?

The M indicates that the course is a course in the student’s major department. The E means that you have exceeded the hours required for that particular requirement. This is common in Math if you took MA 141 or 241 because it is expecting a 3-credit math course and you took a 4-credit math course. It also happens in the free electives section if you take a 3-credit course when you only needed a 1- or 2-credit course to finish the free elective requirement. A * symbol means that a course was manually moved by someone in the Dean’s Office into that location. This is likely to happen if we needed to move your minor courses into your restricted electives section or if we moved a D grade into a requirements section.
