What Do the Grooms Parents Do?
• As soon as the engagement is announced, the groom’s parents send a note or call the bride to welcome her into the family. They also call or write the bride’s parents. • They host and pay for the rehearsal dinner. • In the receiving line the groom’s parents stand between the bride and her mother. The groom’s father is not expected to stand in the receiving line, but he may join in. He will be standing next to the bride. • They compile a guest list of their friends and relatives and give it to the bride. • They should arrive at the ceremony site at least fifteen minutes early. The head usher escorts the parents down the aisle and seats them in the front pew.
