What do the GED Tests cover?
Test One (Writing) has two parts. Part one is a measure of ability to use correct and effective English in written expression. It tests ability to avoid errors in spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar. Part two calls for a person to write a short essay on an assigned topic. This part is designed to provide an opportunity to demonstrate knowledge of basic sentence, paragraph, and over-all theme construction. Tests Two, Four, and Five measure the ability to read, understand and transfer information in the respective areas of Literature, Natural Science, and Social Studies. Test Three measures the ability to solve problems in mathematics. Test Three is divided into two 45-minute blocks of test time. Mathematics Part One (book one) calls upon a person to solve higher math problems such as in the use of algebra and geometry using a calculator.
