BEAM ANGLE and BEAM SHADOW The ultrasonic sound wave spreads out like a cone from the sensor. The bigger the cone angle or the farther the distance to the target, the greater the influence from nearby objects. The Ultrix 100 sensors have a narrow beam angle from 7 to 11 degrees. The Beam Shadow is the width of the beam at any point in its travel – a fixed object (such as a ladder) projecting into the beam’s path may prevent measurement. OFFSET / ZERO and SPAN The Ultrix 100 may be set to transmit 4-20 mA over any range within its overall available range. The Zero (offset) is the level at which the Ultrix transmits 4 mA. The Span is the level at which the Ultrix transmits 20 mA.
