What do the essential elements of CPE include?
CPE is a dynamic, process oriented educational opportunity for ministers. Typically, a students individual learning goals and learning styles determine the process of their unit of CPE. Curriculum elements essential to the CPE process include: a. The practice of ministry to persons and the detailed reporting and evaluation of that ministry. (At least 300 hours per Unit of CPE.) b. Supervision by an individual authorized by the ACPE. (At least 100 hours per Unit of CPE.) c. An individual learning contract for learning developed in conjunction with the supervisor. d. A milieu which encourages human growth and dignity and provides an atmosphere for learning. e. A peer group that engages in small group process. (At least three students per group.) f. An awareness of individual and group process. g. Use of the action/reflection/action or clinical method of learning. h.
