What do the dues cover?
Home Owner Association dues vary, depending on the age of the complex, size of the condo / townhome and what they pay for. They almost always cover snow removal and trash removal, common area maintenance and exterior building insurance for the complex, water and sewer and cable TV. Some include heat. Dues are usually higher if the complex has lots of amenities such as a pool, tennis courts, hot tubs, front desk / concierge staff and a shuttle bus service.
-The national dues cover the cost of your membership in the societies, membership certificates, and membership lapel pins, as well as helping fund the national scholarships and paying a portion of the expenses for a chapter delegate to attend the national conventions and leadership workshops. The local dues cover chapter operating expenses such as mailings, service projects, and local scholarships.
Part of the Association dues goes towards administering an organization with 20,000 members! The Association team is always working to find sponsorship and package deals for all members. The local dues (Cleveland receives $25.00 per membership from National) are used mainly for operating expenses such as website maintenance, weekly prizes and reduced event fees. The Cleveland Chapter has six courses and at each of those courses, there occasionally may be prizes given for a friendly “play of the day” contests. The Cleveland Chapter also looks for opportunities to donate to local charities. At the end of the season, if there is money to spare, it is used to keep the cost of the year end event down.
