What do the different grades of leather mean?

We have at least 12 grades of leather. These can be divided into 3 types. Aniline, Semi Aniline and technical leathers. Aniline leathers are dyed through and given only a very light surface finish. They will become more beautiful with age and are soft supple to touch. Semi Aniline hides are also died through but have a light pigmented coating that makes the leather easier to care for. Technical leather are usually buffed hides which are then embossed and have a pigmented finish, they are easy to clean and maintain and very durable.
