What do the different color-shaded areas that appear on the map represent?
After you tell the system how you conduct business with your customers, the system attempts to create an optimized Market Area based on the observed distribution of your customers. When the Market Area is able to be defined this way, it is drawn on the map with blue shading so that you can see what area is being targeted, based on where your existing customers are located. When a Market Area cannot be created based on your customer distribution — generally because it is very dispersed — the system will base the Market Area on expertise and models developed by Pitney Bowes. This area will be drawn on the map with orange shading, indicating the recommended Market Area.
