What do the bronze bas reliefs mean?
There are 24 bronze bas reliefs along the formal entrance of the memorial. They are two feet by five feet each and were designed by Maryland artist Ray Kaskey. Twelve scenes from the homefront and the Pacific theater are displayed on the south walk and twelve scenes from the homefront and the Atlantic theater are along the northern walk. Descriptions and explanations of the sculptures are available as handouts at the Information Kiosk.
