What do the amounts is box 1 mean?
Box 1 represents the amount of tuition paid during the calendar year less any refund. Box 1 may not reflect the true amount of tuition to be claimed for tax purposes; it reflects the amounts that we are required to report. For clarification on amounts to be claimed for tax purposes please refer students to a tax professional. To verify the information regarding the amount of tuition paid and any refunds processed, please access your student account record. You may view your account information through the SOAR Student Portal at www.nu.edu\login.html. Click on SOAR Student Portal link. The next page will ask for your 9-digit student identification number and password. If you have forgotten or do not know your password please contact Student Concierge Services at scs@nu.edu or (866) 628-8988. Once logged in select the Finances link, then the Customer Account link.
