What do the American People mean when they say Biscuits & Gravy?
here ya go: Biscuits: 2 cups flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon baking powder 1/3 cup shortning 3/4 cup milk sift together dry ingredients, cut in shortning until mix resembles the texture of rice grains, add milk all at once and mix vigorously until dough stiffens up. the dough should be rather soft, turn out onto floured board and knead 15 times. roll out to 3/4 inch thick and cut [we use biscuit cutter…about 2 1/2 inches around, but squares will work if you have nothing similar like a doughnut cutter with the ‘hole’ removed] brush tops with melted butter or shortning and bake on greased baking sheet for 10-15 min at 450 F to make gravy, choose a meat you serve for breakfast that is ground.
