What do the abbreviations or acronymns OSS and COOL mean?
Open source software (OSS) is defined as computer software for which the source code and certain other rights normally reserved for copyright holders are provided under a software license that meets the Open Source Definition or that is in the public domain. This permits users to use, change, and improve the software, and to redistribute it in modified or unmodified forms. The OpenOffice software suite is a truly open application, free to use at work or at home. Software from Mozilla.org – Firefox browser, Thunderbird for e-mail and its Lightning calendar extension- is also free and is open source software. Cegedim has adopted the acronym COOL-Cegedim Open Office Live – for the project to deploy the OpenOffice software suite across the organization. (Refer Cegedim Newsletter No 17).
