Indiana’s legislature is what is referred to as a “citizen legislature.” By this, we mean that the work of men and women at the Statehouse in Indianapolis is not a full-time profession. This permits the legislators to continue working in their home communities and remain in close touch with the citizens in the legislative districts they represent.
