What do sorority fees include?
Social Fee – includes fees and costs for all chapter social functions. Member Dues – semester costs to stay active in the organization. Per Capita Fee – The amount that is paid to the national organization for its upkeep and administration. One Time Membership Expenses for the First Year – The first year of a sorority is usually more expensive than the following years because of one-time fees and deposits that are required of the new member. First year expenses include: New Member Fee: This covers the cost of a new member manual and a new member program Initiation Fee: This includes lifetime membership in the organization, subscription to the national magazine, and materials that are the property of initiated members. It may also include a badge. One-Time Expenses: Average: $300 Low: $120 High: $450 Remember that membership is a lifetime…not just for four years of college! Many chapters have special billing programs and most chapters offer scholarships based on need and service.
