What do Social Workers do basically?
Social workers can work in nearly any area, even business for a consulting firm or as PR for another firm. We are trained in a variety of fields. Most social workers will generally work in the justice system (probation and parole, in courthouses, etc.), with the elderly (Division of Aging, nursing homes, hospices, adult day cares, etc.), with children (Division of Family Services, schools, boys and girls clubs, etc.), with mental illnesses and developmental disabilities (state hospitals, outpatient community based services, club houses, residential care facilities, etc.), or as counselors (for families, couples, children, etc.). As you can see that is just scraping the surface of what you can do.
