What do progressive multifocals do?
Commonly called invisible bifocals, these lenses offer a lot more than just an enhanced cosmetic appearance. The prescription value increases in strength as one looks from top to bottom of the lens allowing a sharp focus from infinity to near, thus the definition “progressive”. One of the main advantages is the gradual shift in focus making the transition from distance to near a more comfortable one. Typically, line bifocals create a sharp jump in image position when crossing the segment line.
