What do programmers do?
Most programmers are employed by software companies either creating games or business software. If a programmer is employed by a company that isn’t a software company then they are generally used to create and maintain in-house systems. These systems can generally be more flexible and tailored to that particular company’s needs than bought-in software although they have a tendency (in my experience) to be more prone to bugs.
