What do professionals think of tongue rings in job atmospheres?
When I was an office manager I never really cared to be honest. Tongue rings shouldn’t be readily apparent to clients anyway. unless you are sticking your tongue out at them which I would have a problem with on SO many levels that the tongue ring would be least of my concerns. By and large though I am not an appearance driven person. I used to do alot of interviewing with other organisations and an oft heard comment was “Well they looked very smart”. To which my response was usually “we’re hiring an accountant, not a bloody clothes horse!” I feel far too much emphasis is placed on workplace appearance and “image” rather than ability and results. But I am in the (vast) minority. Many employers (they aren’t always too bright bless ’em) equate a good suit, lack of jewellery and a short hair cut with intelligence and capability. Lord knows why…
