What do Personal Tutors do?
Your tutor is your most important academic link with the department and with the School and it is important that you establish contact in the first days of term. He or she will be able to advise you on choice of courses, on the undergraduate regulations and on administrative matters generally. Your tutor may be able to offer advice if your work is affected by illness, financial difficulties, or other crises, and you should keep him/her informed of any disruptions to progress. If you are unable to resolve any matter satisfactorily with your tutor you can discuss it (or a change of tutor) with the Departmental Tutor. Tutors will put on their doors details of their Office Hours – the times that they are available to see any student without a prior appointment.
