What do people wear in Spain?
Clothes…seriously…not terribly different from US clothing. Women, even young women, tend to be a little more feminine than in the US. And more conservative. In AndalucĂa, you will notice that they dress up more than in most of the US. Heels, dresses, skirts, much more common (and very comfortable in the hot summer sun!) Mind you, it DOES cool off in the evenings, being in the mountains, and you might need to carry a light sweater in the evenings…just in case. Backpacks are okay, but most people carry them backwards, to thwart pickpockets…and a purse that hangs close to your body, like the old disco purses, are STILL considered a good thing…keep an eye on your valuables…there were a lot of gypsies around the Cathedral…they approach you, wanting to give you rosemary for good luck, they disarm you, then pick your pocket…just tell them no. They’ll teach you that, anyway. small purse that hangs close, or you can tuck tightly under your arm should be good. Keep duplicates of
