What do people have against Medjugorje?
Firstly, I’m really glad you asked this question. I am an atheist and went to Medjugorje while I was travelling through Bosnia. I tell you this truthfully, my friends and I, some of whom are devout Christians, felt a very bad vibe there. I am a cynic at the best of times, but this place felt nasty, there was a certain something in the air that did not feel good. In fact, we all agreed that we felt we had been amid something quite sinister. The place gave us serious heeby-jeebies. Many people I have spoken to about this (including a Catholic nun) have said that this has been felt by many people and there are many similar accounts of a type of malevolence. During the 70’s many people from my country made regular pilgrimages there but not anymore. There is something not quite right about that place. I need to stress that although I am an atheist, I do not want to deliberately tarnish a religious icon, but rather, this is my opinion and the opinion of many others.
