What do Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians do?
Paramedics provide skills such as intubations, the ability to read EKGs, defibrillate stopped hearts, and intravenous medications. Emergency Medical Technicians are able to provide airway management, assessment, oxygen, splinting and immobilization among other skills. The ambulance personnel are able to consult a physician by radio when needed, and then provide notification to the hospital of the patient’s condition prior to arrival.
