What do One Man and a Truck, St nicholas and Mothers Day have in common?
They cause me to play my piano accordion, in public! . From when my sixth grade teacher organised for my parents to buy me an accordion, just before we migrated onwards, I never believed I learned to play it to be a performer. Since I first played the accordion, on the ship bringing us to Australia, I have been happy to spend an hour or so going through all the tunes I was able to play. I carried it to my first session of practice teaching, to avoid having to sing to the children and that was the beginning of very regularly using it to teach my classes singing. So much so that it almost worried me that only a few days ago, via Facebook, I noticed that an ex-pupil described me as being ” famous ” for playing the accordion. I would hope that I’ll also be remembered for the clever way in which I taught them reading, writing and arithmetic among other basic skills. 🙂 – The owner of the business, called: “One Man and a TRuck” invited me to play at his 60th birthday party a few years ago.
