What do Not Embedded and Embedded mean as they apply to the deductibles?
• There is a difference in how the Two-Party and Family deductible works in the BCBS Low plan vs. the BCBS High plan. In the Low plan, the deductible is a “Cumulative” (Not Embedded) deductible. This means that all claims for the entire family are combined to reach the $2,400 deductible. Once this deductible is reached, the plan pays 100% of covered expenses. In the High plan, if one family member reaches the “Embedded” deductible of $2,650, then the plan begins to pay 100% of that member’s claims. The remaining family members continue to pay towards the family deductible of $5,250. After this family deductible is reached, the plan pays 100% of all of the family’s covered expenses.
