What do my students need to understand about signalling molecules?

Response: In Unit 3 Outcome 2 (p. 23 of the study design) students should understand the role of signalling molecules including neurotransmitters, hormones, pheromones and plant growth regulators. They should also understand that cells produce a response to the signal. There are two types of hormone signalling molecules. They are steroid hormones and amino acid and polypeptide-based hormones.
