What do most triple boarders do after training?
There really isn’t a typical triple board career path. As each new class graduates, new career paths are developed. Many choose traditionally “child psychiatry” roles, but nearly all will tell you that they approach their patients with a different lens than their categorically trained colleagues. About a third pursue fellowship or graduate training in child psychiatry, pediatrics, or public health specialties. While most are practicing clinicians, a number of triple board graduates are successful, federally funded researchers as well. Whatever they do, they are a successful group! Many triple boarders have been recognized by the pediatric and child psychiatry professional communities with awards and grants for innovative projects.
