ABOUT THE AMS The American Meteorological Society was founded in 1919 to develop and disseminate knowledge of all phases and applications of meteorology and to advance its professional ideals. Today, the Society represents and provides a means of communication for individuals and groups concerned with the atmosphere and related oceanic and hydrological sciences.
