What do manufacturers and importers of a ‘hazardous substance’ need to do?
Manufacturers and importers must: • before manufacturing or importing an ‘AC classified hazardous substance’ (see above) that is not listed in the Hazardous Substance Information System (HSIS) database, notify the WorkSafe Western Australia Commissioner; • before the hazardous substance is supplied to workplaces, prepare a MSDS (see below) and ensure it is available; • review and revise the MSDS as often as necessary to keep it up to date and at least every five years; and • meet the OSH regulations 1996 requirements for labelling the container (see below).
