What do Jewish people do on Sabbath?
Thanks for taking the time to check with us 🙂 The Jewish sabbath starts sundown Friday evening, and ends sundown on Saturday. It’s traditional to have a nice dinner on the Friday night, with friends and family. Often we have roast chicken, with all the works. First we have kosher wine and Jewish bread – Challah, which is gorgeous. We say special blessings over the bread and wine. We light the Shabbat candles before we eat, and again, say a special prayer. Religious Jews don’t do any work or anything involving using electricity/switches/carrying things throughout Shabbat. They will often cook a special stew called ‘cholent’ and then leave it on a very low light on the cooker starting before Shabbat, so they have food throughout. There is a really nice Synagogue service on Friday night, that many Jews attend. There are more services on the Saturday. Again, more religious Jews will of course attend more services. Shabbat is a special time for us; we are commanded to ‘keep the sabbath hol
