What do Jewish girls wear when praying?
In judaism the teaching is that for various reasons women are on a spiritually higher level than men. For that reason they dont need spiritual reminders and so arent required to wear kippot or teffillin or talitot etc Also – due to their traditional roles of looking after the house and children they arent required to pray at set times during the day – and can also be exempt from other things like fasting on yom kippur… In traditional orthodox circles – married women cover their hair when in the presence of anyone except thier husbands and immediate family. . in these households women traditionaly cover their hair lightly whenever they say a blessing or a prayer – for instance – such as on shabbat… they would generally cover their hair with a scarf or a wig in synagogue because they would be in the presence of people other than their families… In more liberal circles – its commen now for women to wear kippot and all the other things that men do… there are various reasons for it
