What do Interior Decorators do?
An interior decorator’s goal is to create a room that’s beautiful, comfortable, functional, and has the kind of “look” the client has in mind. To achieve this, they spend a lot of time with clients, discussing just what it is they want and what kind of budget they have. Next they design a plan and bring it back to the client, who usually suggests revisions. This process may be repeated several times before a designer and client finalize a plan, and it’s only then that the decorator can go out and actually acquire the furniture and other materials needed to implement it. Some decorators work commercially — for example, they decorate a business or office. Most, however, work on a smaller scale, furnishing and decorating private homes.
