Lamborghini have upped the rivalry with the Ferrari camp with the introduction of the Gallardo Spyder. This is a car that drives as good as it looks – a rare thing for a convertible. Like its hard-top brother, this is one mid-engined supercar you can throw around with glee – safe in the knowledge that it’s prodigious grip (4-wheel drive) will not let you down. The Gallardo’s fine soundtrack, one of the best there is, can be enjoyed to the full with the top down (which stows very neatly in front of the engine) and makes the Spyder actually more desirable than the hardtop, even for the serious driver.
