What do Indians in India think of their western counterpart American Indians?
It depends upon the persons personal outlook. 1) Some might think that American NRIs are traitors of the mother India as they have deserted the country at a time when the country needs talent the most. Especially this attitude resides in the minds of the urban population. 2) As far as I know, the rural population of India still considers NRIs as demi-gods. To them this is a high feat (even if they are driving cabs in there). 3) Others who are liberal minded as usual think that a person must have choice over his destiny, so the migrating birds are not much of a cause for them. 4) Others like me have mixed attitudes. You see if the situation arises, there is nothing bad in leaving your motherland. Although those who leave only for earning money and living a more luxurious life are traitors to me who chose low self-esteem to hard work.
