What do I say to my GP in order to get cognitive behavioural therapy?
You seem concerned about this (not knowing WHY the counselor thinks you’re ‘a danger to yourself and others,’ I can’t say whether the counselor is correct), so you should at least find out if cognitive therapy is really something that will help you, and the only way to really know for sure is to talk to a mental health care person about giving therapy a try. Can you go back to your GP and say that you have reconsidered and that you now wish to seek therapy? And for what it is worth, I think you are wise to seek cognitive therapy instead of medication.
