What do I say to an angry parent or spouse who wants to know educational record information about his or her nondependent student (e.g., grades, schedule information, etc.)?
In a pleasant, but firm, tone of voice explain to the parent or spouse that our policy on the privacy of student educational records, based on federal law, will not allow us to disclose the information. You may refer the caller to the Office of the Registrar (Record Services, 46155), or you may contact the Office of the Registrar, and a staff member will contact the parent or spouse to discuss the situation.
