The 841Specifications/Technical transaction set includes a binary segment that allows for the exchange of all types of information such as graphic, video, and text files in an EDI environment. We suggest that you consider the 841 transaction set as your last resort for Format 5 data; the goal is to use the 839 transaction set for all CPR reporting requirements. Keep in mind that the data will be separated into two transaction sets. You may need to do a few extra steps to get the 841 transaction set data in and out of whatever application system(s) you are using. You do want to make sure the everyone is very clear on how to link an 839 transaction set to an 841 transaction set.
