What do I need to open a merchant account and start accepting credit cards ASAP?
Merchant accounts are usually opened by a representative at your business’s financial institution. Contact the bank branch where your business does banking and ask to speak with their merchant services rep. As long as your business account is in good standing the process is relatively quick and easy.
Another option is an online merchant service such as PayPal. They charge higher fees but you can apply online and have your answer in within 24-48 hours (usually).
