What do I need to do to install a new windows operating system?
Basically all you need to do is buy which ever version of Windows 7 you want. Judging by your needs it sounds like you won’t need anything more than Home Premium and this may the most practical for you (Basic is just too lite).I’m not too sure on prices as I can get it for £30 because I’m a student in the UK, though I don’t know where in the world you live but if you have a child or young family member in education you can use their educational institute as a way of getting it for such a low price and this is still in correct terms and conditions. Though that said I am speaking on behalf of the UK and not sure about USA. Ok when you have installed the new hard drive pop the cd in the drive and the bios should automatically start installing. Perhaps restart just before you insert the cd. But its a simple procedure. If you already have XP installed on the new hard drive it should find it as well and install Win 7. Though this will erase XP if a clean install unless you have the recovery
