What do I need to do to connect 4 bose speakers and a sub to my tv?
I have these 4 bose speakers and a sony sub that i want to hook up to my new tv. The speakers use normal Speaker Wire and I do not know what I need to do to conncet them to work with my new tv. Many/most Bose speakers require an equalizer to work right (even then they are often deficient in the midrange). They are also often equipped with proprietary connectors. That said, you generally can’t connect speakers direct to a TV … you need to connect to an external amp/receiver (which will power the speakers) and connect the speakers to it. So … unless you are prepared to go with a receiver/amp I would forget it. And even with one I wouldn’t recommend the Bose speakers. If you really want to get good Surround Sound from a TV (at least from programs broadcast in surround (not all are)) first verify you have an optical or coax audio out jack on the TV and if so connect to a Home Theater System with Surround Speakers as part of the setup.
