What do i feed new born kittens on (Getting prepared)?
Hello, Hand feeding or bottle feeding a newborn should be your last resort if your cat is absolutely not nursing the little one. If it happens that there is a runt in the litter and he is unable to feed, encourage him to latch on mom’s nipple first and then supplement only with bottle feeding. This is important because mom’s milk is rich in colostrum. This is a very special milk which is full of the mother’s own antibodies. Ideally, the mother then passes on the natural immunities she has built up in her body, through this colostrum, to her young kittens when they nurse. Usually, after about 3 days, the mother’s milk then changes to a richer, calorie dense milk. The kittens who have received that colostrum then have more protection from illnesses until they are a few weeks older, and their own immune systems start to develop. – http://www.hdw-inc.com/colostrum.htm If the kitten is really unable to nurse or mom cat is aba
