What do I envision as an environmentally friendly Haldimand?
I will work to increase our recycling program. I will work to discontinue the use of garbage dumps. Digging a hole and dumping our garbage in it is archaic and we must move to a less pollutant method that is environmentally friendly. I will promote and support OPG in their effort to move to biomass power production. I will lobby the Provincial Government to revisit a Nuclear Plant in Haldimand. I will support the development of an acceptable number of Wind and Solar projects in Haldimand County. It is extremely important to make sure they do not have a negative impact on Haldimand Hydro rate payers. They also need to be located in areas that will not take valuable agriculture land out of production. We must be able to apply standard drainage plans to all Solar Projects and they must not have a detrimental effect on the quality of life of Haldimand residents.
