What do I do when I get a ticket and I receive the following error message: “kinit: Client not found in Kerberos database while getting initial credentials”?
A. The username you entered does not exist in the Kerberos database. If you are certain that your username is correct, try username@PrincipalRealm (e.g., smith@ARL.HPC.MIL). If you still get this error, please send email to the helpdesk at the Center that hosts your principal realm. NOTE: The Kerberos software that comes with some distributions of Linux does not work at the HPCMP centers because it doesn’t prompt for a SecurID passcode. You can download DOD HPCMP Kerberos software for Linux (or most any platform) from: https://www.hpcmo.hpc.mil/security/kerberos/.
