what do i do if welfare finds out that im married but separated from my husband??
If your husband is not providing you any financial assistance, (including helping you secure food and/or healthcare), you should have no problems with welfare and in fact should yourself report that you are married but separated — lying to secure welfare is fraudulent and can easily land you in jail. I strongly recommend you contact your caseworker and advise him/her of the marital separation – especially if you are receiving absolutely no assistance from your husband. If you ARE receiving assistance from your husband, you also need to contact your caseworker asap, as continuing to deceive welfare about the finances and resources available to you will cause more trouble.
