What do I do if the consulate decides to do a security clearance before issuing a U.S. visa?
If the Consular Officer in your home country says that the security clearance is needed, we suggest you inform the Center for International Education that there will be a delay in visa issuance. We hope that your security clearance will be completed within 30 days. If it takes longer, then notify us and we can give you further advice.
