What do I do if items in my Bluetooth preference pane (or menu bar extra) are dimmed and unavailable?
Items in your preference pane or menu bar extra (including headsets) may be dimmed and unavailable if a custom installation of Mac OS X was performed on your Mac which didn’t include the BSD Subsystem. To learn more, including how to re-install the BSD Subsystem, please see Items in the Bluetooth preference pane are dimmed (unavailable).
