In Mac OS 8/9, it is possible to print to printers via the AppleTalk protocol. In order for a printer to be available on an AppleTalk network, the AppleTalk protocol must be installed in the network settings for the network card. Also, make sure that the checkbox “Print Services for Macintosh” is selected in the “Additional File and Print Services for the Network” setting. To find this setting, select “Settings/Control Panel/Software” and click the button “Add/Delete Windows Components”.
