I would leave the flower spike (inflorescence) on the plant. Most of us grow phalaenopsis for the flowers, not leaves. Although most orchid plants flower once a year, phalaenopsis often flower again for a second time. Focus on keeping the plant alive, a healthy plant will re-bloom in due time. If the flower spike turn yellow/dry – remove the stem by cutting it one inch from the base of the plant. An exception is that if your phalaenopsis is in poor healthy, flower spike should be removed for the plant to recover. More roots means more leaves – more resource for flowers to come.
