What do hockey goalies wear under their pads?
Under my pads I wear regular hockey socks and RBK knee pads over the hockey socks. Thigh boards are illegal now and knee pads do the same thing and offer more protection. They help fill up the knee cradle and I think that they help my knee to move better in the cradle making it easier to butterfly. It’s going to take a long time to figure out how you like your pads strapped on. I like my pads kind of loose, but I keep my toe tie extremely tight(make sure you use your toe tie). I know some goalies that wear compression pants under their pads but I’ve never seen a reason to. I’m extremely OCD when it comes to my leg pads and how tight my straps are, I tighten each leather strap down to where there are a certain number of holes showing, this also helps me remember where I usually tighten them down to. On the strap that goes through my skate I leave two holes visible, on the next three straps on my calf I go 3(bottom), 4(middle), 5(top). On my two upper straps I keep them as loose as I can
