What do green sea turtles eat?
Baby turtles eat shrimp and small fish which are found amongst the seagrass. Adult Green Sea Turtles eat the spaghetti shaped and ribbon shaped seagrass. They use their sharp beaks to crop and eat seagrass leaves. How big do Green Sea Turtles grow? Green Sea Turtles can grow up to around 150kg. This is the weight of two to three adults. How do Green Sea Turtles breed? Green Turtles breed from late October to February and breed every 2 to 8 years. They hatch anywhere between 62-153 eggs but only 84% of those that hatch survive. Why are Green Sea Turtles endangered? Green Turtles are on the endangered species list. This means that if we do not change some of the things we do, they may eventually dissapear forever. They are listed as endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature site at www.redlist.org.
