What do Graphic Designers/artists do?
I have been a graphic designer for ten years. Here are some of the basics: A print artist (designs printed layouts like brochures, posters, banners, etc). This would probably be considered your “standard” graphic designer. You should know and understand the following: A vector art program like Adobe Illustrator A raster art program like Adobe Photoshop or Corel Draw A page layout program like Adobe Indesign Possess a strong knowledge of Pantone and process colors, digital and offset printing processes and skilled use of paper variations and touches (varnishes, die cuts and others). These days, digital graphic designers are becoming more and more popular. They create 3-D art or strictly digital design. Typically their work is used in digital animations or website/electronic design. Their knowledge base moves away from print, and more into the 3-D realm.
